Jay L. Levin, M.D.

Dr. Jay Levin attended Northwestern University followed by graduating from Rush Medical College in 1980. He then attended an orthopedic surgical residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center until 1985. Among other honors, he was "Intern of the Year." Pursuing additional training in spinal surgery, he completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric spinal surgery at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center and The Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children under the direction of renowned spinal surgeon, Dr. Ronald DeWald. Dr. Levin has been selected to Castle Connolly's List of America's Top Doctors, Chicago Metro Area. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has published numerous articles and presentations and holds annual Chicagoland seminars on Worker's Compensation Care. Dr. Levin has extensive clinical practice in Occupational Orthopedics. Dr. Levin is a founding member of Adult and Pediatric Orthopedics, S.C.

Michael H. Jacker, M.D.

Dr. Michael Jacker graduated with honors from Harvard University, Cambridge MA in 1976, where he received a John Harvard scholarship, Harvard College scholarship, and a varsity letter in intercollegiate sailing. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH in 1986 and completed his orthopedic internship and residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center, Chicago, IL.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Illinois Orthopedic Society, American Medical Association, and Lake County Medical Society. Dr. Jacker was captain aboard a 30-foot sailboat on a 13,000 mile transpacific voyage for one year. He is also a private airplane and glider pilot. Dr. Jacker is a founding member of Adult and Pediatric Orthopedics, S.C.

David M. Zoellick, M.D.

Dr. David Zoellick graduated with honors from DePauw University, Greencastle, IN, 1983 and he received his Medical Degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. 1987. He interned at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Zoellick was a staff orthopedic surgeon at the US Naval Hospital, Guam, for the US Navy from 1992-1994. He also resided on staff at the US Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL.

He has extensive experience in sports medicine and trauma. Dr. Zoellick is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, National Board of Medical Examiners and Lake County Medical Society. He is currently head of Orthopedic Surgery at Condell Medical Center.

Alan P. Gegenheimer, D.O.

Dr. Alan Gegenheimer attended Michigan State University for both his undergraduate and medical degrees. He then joined the Navy and upon completion of a General Surgery Internship he became the head of the Medical Department onboard the USS Whidbey Island for two years and then the head of the Urgent Care Dept. at Naval Air Station, Oceana for two years where he trained in plastic/hand surgery. He completed his Orthopedic residency at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA. From 1997-1999 he was on staff at Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL prior to joining APO.

He has received several decorations for his military service; Navy Commendation Medal x2, Humanitarian Service Medal, Surface Warfare Insignia, Navy Sea Service Ribbon and National Defense Medal. Dr. Gegenheimer has extensive experience with complicated sports and trauma injuries and arthroscopic procedures, as well as plastic/hand injuries. He is board certified with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Gegenheimer has been selected to Castle Connolly's List of American's Top Doctors and Biltmore's Who's Who Among Executive and Professional men in Healthcare and Medicine.

David Schafer, M.D.

Dr. David Schafer graduated from Georgetown University cum laude in 1995 where he also received a varsity letter in Football during his time as an undergraduate. He attended Northwestern University Medical School and graduate with honors in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1999. He proceeded to complete his residency training at the Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center in 2004. With a strong interest in sports medicine and the latest arthroscopic techniques, he completed a fellowship specialty training in sports medicine from the esteemed Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. During his time here, he was an assistant team physician for many professional teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers and Kings. Here, he learned the most advanced arthroscopic techniques for treating shoulder and elbow pathology as well as honed his skills in all other aspect of orthopaedics.

Dr. Schafer has been in practice in the Chicago area since 2005 and has extensive experience in trauma, sports medicine and joint replacement surgery, including minimally invasive partial knee replacement and shoulder replacement surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
